Multi-Language Surveys
Building and Strengthening Relationships
Web-based survey questionnaires translated into native languages can be deployed quickly to reach your customers, employees, distributors, partners and suppliers anywhere in the world. Use them to collect valuable information about the quality of your relationship, specific levels of satisfaction and loyalty and views, attitudes and intentions. Native language surveys are important in your relationships because they demonstrate that the needs, national identity and pride of native speakers is respected and appreciated by your organization. And, on a basic communications level, native language translations may be necessary in order to collect survey information from those who do not read English as a second language well enough to understand all the ideas being presented.

To support your native language needs, GuideStar has developed a range of multi-language services:
  • GuideStar Translation Technology - SMART Questionnaires -- SMART Questionnaires are able to recognize and work with all major languages including those with double byte characters like Japanese, Chinese and Korean. A SMART Questionnaire, containing all the questionnaire structural programming, can be provided to a native language translator in a Microsoft Word document format to translate the English text. The translator can work in this familiar Word format to translate the text in the document. The SMART Questionnaire will automatically recognize the language and adjust the code to work with the appropriate language. Your native language translators can easily work with a SMART Questionnaire in Word format - or GuideStar can provide the translation services through its long-term collaboration with a worldwide translation firm, specializing in Web-page translations.

  • Native Language E-Mail Message and Online Survey Support --GuideStar has trained and worked with translators in most of the common languages used in business organizations today in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and Asia Pacific. We also provide e-mail support in native languages for surveys. Participants in over 35 countries and from every continent have received support through this unique service. Whenever an e-mail reply to a GuideStar survey invitation or reminder message is sent in a language other than English by a prospective respondent, the message is automatically forwarded to a native language translator who has been trained with an extensive FAQ list to respond back in the native language - so a German customer (or Brazilian, or Chinese) who sends comments or questions about a GuideStar survey will receive a response in his or her native language within a short time.

  • Content Analysis of Native Language Open-end Question Comments - Let us efficiently translate and code the comments of native language survey participants. This enables us to prepare a statistical analysis of the comments in the form of a Ranked Frequency Table, which organizes and ranks the principal themes found in the comments based on the frequency of mentions. In effect, the "cream rises to the top" so you see the most important themes that have emerged through the content analysis of hundreds or thousands of comments on each open-end survey question.

  • Online Reporting of Native Language Comments in the ORC - Quick and Easy -- GuideStar's Online Report Center enables you to quickly and easily examine the survey results of open-end questions in any language. Responses to open-end comment questions provide important additional information that enriches data analysis while providing respondents with the opportunity to express themselves as they wish. These comments are literally the voice of the customer, employee or any group of importance to the success of the organization. The ORC offers powerful options for reporting and analyzing open-end question survey results in native languages, all of which can be filtered by geography (world region, country, etc.) and by respondent segment. You can even build native language, open-end comment reports based on:

    • Verbatim comments reported by individual question
    • Keyword and key-phrase searches by question
    • Content analysis - an analysis of the underlying themes found in the verbatim comments. The report is displayed in a table displaying the most frequently mentioned themes at the top to the least frequently mentioned at the bottom of the table. Counts and percentages are shown for each theme so you can analyze the weight of each theme and interpret its importance.

For multi-language surveys, each native language comment displayed in the ORC is shown with a flag identifying the respondent's country of origin. A cross-tab analysis in the ORC displaying open-end comments cross-tabbed with a multiple choice question will show the comments of respondents who gave ratings at each choice level on a multiple-choice question. For example, examine the comments of all customers in a country who said they were dissatisfied with customer care service, distributors who were dissatisfied with delivery dates or employees who were dissatisfied with their supervisor's coaching ability. Translation of native-language comments for presentation in English in the ORC can be provided upon request.
